Love and Lockets 💗

Hello from the perfumery here in Santa Fe, New Mexico where we have a gorgeous, clear, cerulean blue sky today with very warm sunshine!

I've been wandering into my mothers past the last few days and finding all sorts of fascinating gems. For example, I knew that when she worked at the knit shop in Beverly Hills, circa 1967-1970 or so, she had quite a star studded clientele who she both hand knit for and taught.

One of the new threads in her story, is that she made sweaters for AND taught Rock Hudson how to knit. I knew she had taught Natalie Wood how to crochet, but don't remember the Rock Hudson piece. I'm planning to write a post about her fascinating life, but first I'm finishing up the New Year one, which has become quite epic and may need to be split in two.

When the decision to launch a perfume brand had seeded in my consciousness, I was determined to have it look different and be authentic. One of the routes to achieve this goal was by having a different color for each fragrance, and using both wax seals and crochet pouches. Given that my mom was a master at crochet, I set her on the task of designing the pouches. Of course she excelled at this, and ended up creating a different pattern for the top edge of each pouch to correspond with the fragrance.

The montage above is of the Vespertina solid perfume pouch, with the one to the right of me holding the compact within the pouch and wearing some romantics cuffs she made for me. I still have some of the round and oval compacts and pouches, so if your hunting for something truly special, please reach out.

Wafting love far and wide,

Roxana 🌸🐝

Lockets

I'm thrilled to share some new chains with the diamond pattern solid perfume lockets with you. They have been designed in collaboration with my new friend here in Santa Fe, Amy of Adorn Reborn. Auspiciously, Amy and I both attended Otis in downtown LA during the 80's!

I have listed them here at the website, there are currently six styles and only one of each, but Amy has agreed to make more as the need arises. I will also have some styles with stones as well.

Keep in mind & heart that I only have a very limited amount of the solid perfume tins. We are looking at other options but for now, quantity is limited and I suggest you keep your little tins to have them refilled.

Handmade Perfume just for Y💜U

I make each and every synergy and chord that is used for each perfume by using essentials oils, tinctures, and infusions and a whole lot of intention. Each fragrance has a story and a mission.

Chaparral in the solid format is now back, with Rosa arriving once more toward the end of March.

"My most favorite perfume. I tried it for the first time 9 years ago and fell in love with the scent. It's such a grounding, earthy scent."

~ Canary Yellow

I bow, acknowledge and offer gratitude, respect & love to Oghá P'o'oge, the land here that I call home and create on. The name comes from the Tewa people and means "white shell water place.". The first known ancestral people of the area were here in about 1050 to 1150, but abandoned it around 200 years before the Spanish arrived.

In 1610, Spanish governor Don Pedro de Peralta renamed the area Villa Real de la Santa Fé de San Francisco de Asís, which translates to "Royal Town of the Holy Faith of Saint Francis of Assisi". The name "Santa Fe" is Spanish for "Holy Faith".

Here we are once more, entering a cycle deemed by the Gregorian calendar as the New Year. Did you know that before our current model of tracking the year, there were others? The one that makes most sense to me, and aligned with the Northern hemisphere seasonal shift and alchemy, begins in March. If you have visited the perfumery recently, perhaps you ascended the stairs to the lab being mindful of the twelve alchemical processes, each one corresponding to a zodiac sign. Fall in Santa Fe, New Mexico is my favorite time of the year. Harvests are bountiful, the golden vistas spectacular and the chill in the air highlights the piñon wood smoke note wafting from the earthen hue’d chimneys. My first visit to Santa Fe was in the Autumn of the mid 80’s, the scent of piñon smoke was part of the seduction of this beautiful land. The “smoke” note in perfume goes way back in ancient times, consider the roots of the word perfume -> per fumum, meaning “through smoke”....
