Bright Blessings & Holiday Cheer

"Winter kept us warm,

covering Earth

in forgetful snow."

~ TS Eliot

As the seasonal shift approaches, tilting toward the darkest night here in the northern hemisphere, we are beckoned to mimic nature by slowing down and finding stillness within.

Winters scent language contains melodic notes of both the slumbering and ever-greening trees. Those that have been stripped of their ornament, standing tall with their structural bones bare, have entered their phase of dormancy. Yet, deep within, the sap is becoming sugary and thick, producing a type of antifreeze, protecting cells, and migrating to the roots for storage.

While we decorate with the evergreens, slices of oranges and strings of star anise, remember the unseen golden sap inviting you to journey within and keep the inner fire of the wild, mythic self burning bright.

A Seasonal Gathering of Light & Craft

As the year folds into its luminous winter slumber, I’m delighted to share two gatherings here in Santa Fe where art, community, and the fragrance of place come together. If you’re nearby, I would be honored to greet you.

→ December 12 | Farolito Tree Lighting & Holiday Market

Artisan Market 2:00-7:00pm | Tree Lighting Ceremony 6:00pm

1297 Bishops Lodge Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87506

Crisp mountain air, the glow of lanterns, the soft crackle of piñon smoke invite you to step into a quiet winter tale. Come wander through the lights and warmth of the lodge as the tree is lit for the season.

→ December 13 | Lena Street Holiday Festival

12–5PM / 1600 Lena Street, Building A, unit 6, Santa Fe, NM 87508

My studio doors will open for an intimate, sensory visit. You’re invited to explore and experience perfumes on skin. Greg will be there with his visual delights as well as my dear friend Amy Kawadler with her unique jewelry.

The Lena Street community will be alive with creative neighbors, artists, makers, and fellow dreamers, offering a beautiful moment of community as the season unfolds.

Staying Drunk on Writing

Ray Bradbury advised that “You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.” I've been so drunk that I am restructuring Wandering the Wonderland a bit, by segregating some of the more brand heavy, teaching posts to Illuminated Perfume. If you haven't visited with one lately I suggest heading over. The most important of all the posts is my collaboration with Chef Bobby Cortez, Madness as a Cage and the return of Aumbre.

AUMBRE

Back to Nature "I live in the city and I am so grateful to have this perfume as it instantly brings me back in touch with nature and with myself. It is very grounding, soothing, comforting, and therapeutic (to me). I love the warm, sweet, woody, incense aspects of this gorgeous perfume. I am a customer for life!"

~ Megan Berkeley

I bow, acknowledge and offer gratitude, respect & love to Oghá P'o'oge, the land here that I call home and create on. The name comes from the Tewa people and means "white shell water place." The first known ancestral people of the area were here in about 1050 to 1150, but abandoned it around 200 years before the Spanish arrived.

In 1610, Spanish governor Don Pedro de Peralta renamed the area Villa Real de la Santa Fé de San Francisco de Asís, which translates to "Royal Town of the Holy Faith of Saint Francis of Assisi". The name "Santa Fe" is Spanish for "Holy Faith".
