Distilling Nature

Hello,

The golden cloak of Autumn has arrived to the high desert heralding in the firelight energy of the season as well as a visit from a mentor and a new presentation.

In the Summer of 2005, after attending a Visionary Art workshop in Austria, I decided to begin work on launching a perfume brand. The intention was to focus on the authenticity and art of true plant fragrance, hence the adjective illuminated.

While watering seeds of intention and conjuring inner fortitude to manifest this dream, I came across Jennifer Butler and her transformational work with image. Jennifer is the founder of the True Beauty Movement and a leading expert in the sociology of style and color. She taught me to observe the the colors and texture in nature throughout the year and how each season corresponds to human beings.

Jennifer arrives to Santa Fe this Thursday and has several offerings planned, beginning with a multi-sensorial event Friday evening demonstrating how your unique coloring and sacred design can support your visual presentation and empower your message!

Science shows that 93% of all communication is nonverbal. The clothes and colors we choose have special meaning and can either support or challenge our effectiveness. Learn how to recognize what works best for you from one of the world's leading experts on the psychology of color and human design.

⇢ It's Elemental

Saturday, October 28th 6:30pm-9pm

I will share how scent is represented in the four elements, the four seasonal archetypes and more.

"Scents contain mysteries and revelations. In both alchemical and mystical systems, the elements are used as a structure for classification based on the sensory world mirroring that of human physical, emotional, and psychological understanding. These elemental attributes of earth, air, fire, and water can also be applied to scents. In this session, Roxana Villa will be your guide on an exploration of: the origin of perfume; palettes of high vibrational fragrance, including how to discern their elemental properties; how to use plants to create perfume; and, in tandem, garner greater spiritual understanding."

Q (for Quercus)

The Celtic name of oak is duir, meaning door. It was the native oak of California that inspired this fragrance and opened the door (duir) way to my path as a botanical perfumer.

"Beautiful scent, very earthy and sensual. Lingers awhile on the skin, and reminds me of moss, oak and sweet, natural earth. Roxana is a delight to work with, and I am very pleased with my purchase and the attention it received...will definitely purchase more!" ~ Susan

I bow, acknowledge and offer gratitude, respect & love to the Kuapoga land I create on.

Spring greetings from the Northern Hemisphere! This newsletter features: Mirroring the Heavens over at Wandering the Wonderland The Spring Equinox & the Green Witch Spring Styling Webinar, April 1st Aurora Solid Returns 🌸🐝 Mirroring the Heavens Most of us have been trained to start and celebrate the new year on January 1st, which in the northern hemisphere is in winter, when it's barren and cold outside with short days that might be icy and/or cold. In December, I found myself contemplating...

Hello from the perfumery here in Santa Fe, New Mexico where we have a gorgeous, clear, cerulean blue sky today with very warm sunshine! I've been wandering into my mothers past the last few days and finding all sorts of fascinating gems. For example, I knew that when she worked at the knit shop in Beverly Hills, circa 1967-1970 or so, she had quite a star studded clientele who she both hand knit for and taught. One of the new threads in her story, is that she made sweaters for AND taught Rock...

Here we are once more, entering a cycle deemed by the Gregorian calendar as the New Year. Did you know that before our current model of tracking the year, there were others? The one that makes most sense to me, and aligned with the Northern hemisphere seasonal shift and alchemy, begins in March. If you have visited the perfumery recently, perhaps you ascended the stairs to the lab being mindful of the twelve alchemical processes, each one corresponding to a zodiac sign. I'm currently working...
